Before CMU: Attended Utah Tech University in his hometown of St. George, Utah, which does not have a men’s team… Has periodically competed for his club team.
Prep: 2024 graduate of Dixie High School… Won both the 50 free and 100 Back at the Utah 4A State Championships as a senior… Also won the 100 back from the Flyers and Coach Madison Dunlavy as a junior in 2023… Took second in the 200 IM that year… Was third in the 100 back and fourth in the 100 fly as a sophomore in 2022.
Club: Won the 50 Back while placing second in the 100 Back and 100 Fly at the Utah Senior (LCM) Championships in July, 2026 while representing the Southern Utah Swimming Association… Also swept the 50, 100 and 200 back events at the Western Zone Senior Short Course (25Y) Championships in March, 2026… Had won the 50 Free, 100 Back and 200 Back at the Utah Short Course Senior Championships in December, 2025… Placed seventh in the 100 Back at the 2024 Western Zone Senior Championships… Finished fourth in the 100 back and fifth in the 200 back at the 2024 Speedo Sectionals in Phoenix.
Personal: Is majoring in business management… Hopes to build a career that can help others be better people and impact their lives for the better… Strives to develop new skills and help people solve their problems… Son of Maranda and David Carlile… Has two siblings— Spencer and Lila… Spencer runs track at BYU… Enjoys skiing and snowboarding, cliff jumping, longboarding, backpacking, cooking and gaming.
