2024-25 (As a Freshman): Swam in seven meets…. Set NCAA Championship provisional qualifying and personal-best altitude-adjusted times of 4:30.96 (500 Free), 9:17.52 (1000 Free) and 15:39.22 (1650 Free) at the TYR CMU Invitational, his best meet of the campaign… Ranks seventh in program history with that 1000 Free time… Ranks eighth in the 1650… Was sixth on the RMAC’s season-long top times list in the 1650 and eighth in the 1000… Went on to swim those events as an exhibition swimmer at the RMAC Championships… Also had a season-best 200 Free time of 1:42.54 (converted) at the TYR meet…. Was named as a Second Team CSCAA Scholar All-American.
Prep: 2024 graduate of Catholic High School in Baton Rouge, Louisiana… Won the Division 1 state title in the 200 Free while placing second in the 100 Back, setting a personal-best time of 50.62 seconds in the latter… Had set a 200 Free personal best of 1:42.23 to win the league title.
Club: Won the 1000 and 1650 Free titles at the 2024 Louisiana State Short Course State Championships while representing Crawfish Aquatics… Was also a finalist in four other events… Won the 1500-meter Free at the 2023 Senior State Championships… Finished eighth at the 2023 Speedo Sectionals – College Station in the 1650 Free with a time of 15:42.35, just off his PB of 15:42.07 from the 2024 State Short Course Championship.
Personal: Is undecided upon a major… Son of Tracy and Erik Cooper… Has an older brother named Will.
Why I Chose CMU: “I chose CMU because of the atmosphere when I visited and how the team seemed to really enjoy practices, the coaching staff, and the other swimmers as well. I also am a huge Colorado fan and have always wanted to live there.”
