As a Redshirt Freshman (2023 @ CMU): Ran in three meets, including the RMAC Championships… Finished 97
th at the conference meet… Set a 8K season-best time of 26:22.6 at the Lewis Crossover after placing 47
th in his Maverick debut at the Mountaineer Invite... Had transferred to CMU for the 2023 spring semester after running cross country at fellow NCAA Division II institution Saint Leo University in Saint Leo, Florida during the fall of 2022.
As a Freshman (2022 @ Saint Leo): Finished 29
th with an 8K time of 28:23.7 at the North Florida XC Invitational, his lone race with the Lions.
Prep: 2022 graduate of Otsego High School…. Ran for Coach Steven Long and the Bulldogs along with fellow Mavericks Tristin Canales and Chase Brown… Was a 2-time (2020 & 2021) all-region and all-state performer in cross country… Helped the Bulldogs when Wolverine Conference and state titles as a senior in the fall of 2021… Had earned all-conference honors as a junior (2020)… Was a 4-time all-conference and 2-time all-region performer in track… Had a 5K XC PR of 15:40.9 at Otsego’s home meet to finish third before rattling off three consecutive wins, including victories at the Wolverine Conference Championships and Allegan County Meet… Took second at regionals and ninth at state… Also finished 22
nd at the NXR Midwest Regional Championships and 65
th at the Eastbay Midwest Regional Championships… Set outdoor track PRs of 2:09.20 (800), 4:29.29 (1600) and 9:32.99 (3200) during his senior track season… Took second in the 1600 with that time at the Wolverine Conference Championships… Was tenth in the 3200 at the state meet after placing second at the Region 14-2 meet.
Personal: Is majoring in marketing… Son of Jamie and Chris Cockerel… Has two younger siblings— Ryan and Brooklynn… Enjoys running and hanging out with my friends and family.
