2020 (Freshman): Redshirt season.
Prep: Is a 2020 graduate of Palmer Ridge HS, where he ran for the Bears and coach Carl Arnold… Finished 77th at the 2019 Nike Cross Southwest Regional… Set indoor track PRs of 24.55 (200), 39.18 (300) and 54.23 (400) at the 2020 USATF Colorado Indoor Championships… Finished tenth in the 800 at the High School State Championships as a junior in 2019, recording a PR of 1:58.09… Went on to win that event at the Colorado USATF Junior Olympics… Also won the 1500 with a PR of 4:17.56 after setting a 1,600-meter PR of 4:29.98 during the high school season.
Personal: Legal name is James… Is majoring in outdoor recreation and physics… Has many career aspirations including being a race car driver, owning a coffee shop, making pottery or doing physics research… Loves the outdoors, including camping, climbing and running… Also enjoys art, music and science.
Why I Chose CMU: “I chose CMU because of the great coaching staff and the opportunity to be able to train year round, as well as the opportunities I would have to get outdoors and explore.”
