Sport Oversight: Baseball, Men’s and Women’s Golf
McLain Whitney began at Colorado Mesa in 2019 as an Assistant Athletic Trainer. His duties, at the time, included men’s soccer, men’s and women’s swimming and diving and the upstart triathlon programs.
Prior to Colorado Mesa, Whitney was the athletic trainer responsible for the men’s and women’s track and field programs as well as the cross-country programs at Kent State from 2016-19.
From 2014-16, he was the athletic trainer in charge of the Track and Field, Cross Country and Swimming and Diving programs at UConn.
Prior to his time at UConn, he was the athletic trainer for the Gymnastics, Wrestling, and Track and Field programs at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire from 2013-14.
A native of St. George, Utah, McLain earned his A.S. from Dixie State in 2010 followed by his B.S. in Athletic Training from the University of Utah in 2013. He went on to earn his M.S. in Kinesiology in 2016 from the University of Connecticut.
McLain loves dogs and enjoys hiking and the outdoors of the Western Slope. He plays golf poorly but religiously.
