Coach enters his 33rd season as the Pitching Coach at Colorado Mesa in 2025. Rodgers has been the pitching coach since the 1993 season with the Mavericks. Rodgers has over 40 years of experience coaching pitchers at both the Division II and Division I level, as he was the pitching coach at Colorado State University from 1986-1992.
Rodgers has coached a pitching staff that is written all over the history books of the RMAC. The 2016 and 2017 staff still has the lowest ERA (3.12 and 3.18) in RMAC history. Rodgers has helped coach and mentor a program that was the winningest program in the nation from 2010-2019, has been to 4 NCAA Division II World Series, 2 National Runner-ups, has had 4 National Players of the Year, has won 22 regular season RMAC titles, 14 RMAC tournament titles, has been to 23 NCAA postseasons, has produced 36 All-Americans, 20 Academic All-Americans, 3 Academic Players of the Year, 12 RMAC Players of the Year, 13 RMAC Pitchers of the Year, 3 RMAC Freshman Pitchers of the Year, 3 All Region Pitchers of the Year and over 30 MLB draft picks, including 3 time World Series champion Sergio Romo, MLB All Star reliever Brendan Donnelly, and current St. Louis Cardinal Kyle Leahy. Jeff is known for his masterful work with pitch grips and pitch design, as evident in the pitching staffs at Colorado Mesa the past 30 years.
Jeff is a Colorado native, born and raised in Loveland. He is a 1984 graduate of Mesa State College where he pitched for the Mavericks, as a 4 year starting pitcher. Jeff then continued his career with the Montreal Expos organization. Rodgers has a Bachelor's of Arts in Recreation from Mesa State College. He is employed at the Grand Junction Regional Center, where he has worked for over 30 years. Jeff's wife, Traci, is a graduate of Mesa and is a RN/BSN, and head of the ER, at St. Mary’s Hospital.
