Biography

2021-22 (Freshman): Competed in all five meets of the fall semester… Set personal-best altitude-adjusted times of 57.23 (100 Breast), 2:02.37 (200 Breast) and 1:54.37 (200 IM) at the A3 Performance Invitational… Finished third in the 200 breast with his mark, which put him sixth in CMU history… Placed 12th in the 200 IM… Wad disqualified in the 100 breast finals after qualifying fifth out of the prelims… Had finished second in both breaststroke events in the Wyoming dual (Nov. 5) and at the CMU Duals Day #2… Had other season-best times of 23.50 (50 free), 48.20 (100 free), 27.00 (50 breast) and 4:12.87 (400 IM).  

Prep: 2021 graduate of Mullen High School… Was a Centennial League Champion as a senior in the 200 IM… Earned second team all-conference honors as a freshman and sophomore… Finished sixth in the 100 breast and eighth in the 200 IM at the 2019 state championships.

Club: National team member for the Denver Hilltoppers, coached by Shawn Smith… Placed seventh in the 200 breast at the 2020 Colorado Senior Short Course Championships… Finished 10th in the 100 breast at the 2021 Speedo Sectionals in Austin, Texas.

Personal: Is majoring in chemistry… Son of Nadine Maestas… Has a brother— Jacob… Enjoys going to the lake and working out.
