2023-24 (6th Year): Capped his decorated career with another strong season… Earned his seventh and eighth career CSCAA All-America honors with fifth (1m) and sixth (3m) place finishes at the NCAA Division II Championships… Went on to be named as the RMAC Diver of the Year for the third straight season… Was also named as the RMAC Championship Diver of the Meet for the third straight year after winning the 1-meter crown with a score of 570.25 points… Earned his fifth career gold medal with that effort… Also won the silver on the 3-meter taking second with 538.40 points finishing only behind teammate Dawson Wilson… Scored a meet-leading 37 team points in those diving events... Finished his career with eight first team and ten total All-RMAC certificates… Dove in 11 meets in total… Won three more RMAC Diver of the Week honors raising his career total to nine… Received those honors on Oct. 11, Nov. 22 and Jan. 24… Claimed a dual-meet win on the 1-meter against Wyoming… Won both the 1 and 3-meter events at the TYR Invitational, setting season-best scores of 629.15 (1m) and 608.80 (3m) points during that meet… Set the school record in the 1-meter with that score, which came in the preliminary round… Set the El Pomar Natatorium records in both… Had season-best 6-dive scores of 332.15 (1m) and 344.50 (3m)… The 1-meter effort at the Air Force Falcon Invitational… The 3-meter score was at the Maverick Last Chance Qualifier.
2022-23 (Redshirt Senior): Turned in another fine season, earning his fifth and sixth career all-America honors while repeating as the RMAC Diver of the Year… Successfully defended his RMAC titles on both the 1 and 3-meter boards… Scored 40 team points to lead all divers en-route to RMAC Diver of the Meet honors for the second straight year… Also earned First Team All-RMAC honors, his seventh and eighth career certificates... Set season-best scores of 578.45 (3m) and 551.85 (1m) points during the conference meet, turning in the 1-meter performance in the finals while setting the 3-meter score in the preliminaries before finishing with 567.45 points in the finals… Went on to place third in the 3-meter at the NCAA Championships with 527.10 points after leading with 555.35 points through the prelims… Scored 511.40 points to finish fourth at the national meet on the 1-meter… Was named as the RMAC Diver of the Week all six times the award was bestowed throughout the season… Swept victories during the Oct. 22 dual against Wyoming… Set a season-best 6-dive score of 344.50 points on the 3-meter at the Maverick Last Chance Qualifier while tuning up for nationals… Had a season-best 1-meter, 6-dive score of 296.00 at the NCAA Pre-Championship qualifier… Also won all three events at the Northern Arizona Lumberjack Invitational.
As a Redshirt Junior (2021-22): Became the second Maverick diver (Ammar Hassan) to win an NCAA Division II title, claiming the 3-meter title with a score of 537.75 points… Also earned another First Team CSCAA All-America honor in the 1-meter event at the NCAA Division II National Championships with a fourth place finish and score of 440.55 points… Later named as CSCAA Men’s Division II Diver of the Year… Also named as the RMAC Diver of the Year and the RMAC Championship Diver of the Meet… Had won both diving events at the RMAC Championships posting season-best scores of 554.40 (3m) and 514.35 (1m) points… Won First Team All-RMAC honors for both boards… The RMAC Championships were his first event of the year… Had 6-dive scores of 311.55 (3m) and 271.05 (1m) points in the NCAA pre-championship qualifier… Finished fourth on the 3-meter and third on the 1-meter to easily reach the official NCAA championship.
As a Redshirt Sophomore (2020-21): Competed in four meets, including the RMAC and NCAA Division II National Championships during the pandemic-abbreviated season… Earned a pair of CSCAA All-America honors, claiming first team plaudits on the 3-meter board with a fourth place finish at the national meet in Birmingham, Alabama… Posted a season-high score of 501.30 points in that effort… Also finished tenth on the 1-meter with a score of 443.25 points to place tenth… Had earned First Team All-RMAC honors on both boards after finishing second behind teammates at the RMAC Championships… Had a season-best score of 487.85 on the 1-meter at that meet… Had 6-dive scores of 253.20 (1m) and 288.25 (3m) at the Air Force Diving Invitational… Officially qualified for the national championships by placing fifth on the 3-meter at the pre-championship qualification meet with a 6-dive score of 269.45 points…. Was 11
th on the 1-meter at pre-nationals with a score of 260.10 points.
As a Redshirt Freshman (2019-20): Competed in three meets during the second half of the season, including the RMAC Championships and NCAA Division II Pre-Championship qualification meet... Earned Second Team All-RMAC honors in both diving events, placing third in each... Tallied 11-dive scores of 495.55 (3m) and 458.25 (1m)... Had a season-best of 483.15 on the 1-meter against the Colorado School of Mines in a Jan. 10-11, 2-day dual... Narrowly missed out on qualifying for the official NCAA Division II national championships after placing 18th (3m) and 19th (1m) at the pre-championship qualification meet... Had 6-dive scores of 232.75 (1m) and 232.70 (3m).
As a Freshman (2018-19): Attended CMU but was not a part of the Maverick squad.
Prep: Graduated from Rangeview HS in 2018... Competed for Hinkley High School... Coached by Beth Himes, Jacob Butler, Chip Blanconburg and Bill Thompson... Finished seventh at the 2018 5A State Championships as a senior... Was 13th as a junior in 2017.
Club: Competed for the Altitude Dive Club and coach Grant Robinson... Was an all-American and national placer on both boards.
Personal: Is majoring in criminal justice with aspirations of a career as a probation officer.. Lists hobbies of photography, cinematography, hiking, cliff jumping and many other outdoor activities .. Mother is Pamela Cornish...Older sisters are Maranda and Justine Cheeks.
