2021-22 (As a Redshirt Junior): Competed in nine meets, including the RMAC Championships… Capped his career with a strong meet, highlighted by two all-conference performances and three “B” final wins… Earned First Team All-RMAC honors in the 400 IM with a season-best altitude-adjusted and NCAA “B” time of 3:57.04… Earned second team honors with a third place finish in the 200 fly… Posted another “B” time of 1:49.08 to do so… That time ranks him fifth in program history… Won the “B” finals to place ninth in both the 200 breast and 200 IM… Set a personal-best of 2:04.66 in the 200 breast and season-best of 1:51.87 in the 200 IM… Ranks tenth in CMU history for the 200 breast… Also anchored the Mavs’ 800 Free Relay “B” team to a heat win in 6:54.93… Scored 51 team points in his four individual events and 55 ½ total team points including his share of the relay points.

2020-21 (As a Junior): Competed in five meets during the pandemic-shortened season, including a brilliant RMAC Championships… Earned three first team and four total All-RMAC honors with top-4 finishes in each of his events at the conference meet… Accumulated 69 team points in his four individual events to lead all swimmers and to earn RMAC Swimmer of the Meet honors… Defended his RMAC title in the 400 IM with an altitude-adjusted and NCAA “B” cut time of 3:57.36… Led the RMAC season-long performance list with that time… Also earned First Team All-RMAC honors with runner-up finishes in both the 200 fly and 200 breast… Had a season-best time of 2:04.74 (converted) in the 200 breast… Set a season-best NCAA “B” cut time of 1:49.76 in the 200 fly… Finished fourth in the 200 IM with a season-best time of 1:52.13… Finished second in the 200 fly at BYU (Jan. 22) and fifth in the 100 breast at Utah (Jan. 23) in tune-up dual meets.

2019-20 (As a Sophomore): Competed in nine meets, including the RMAC Championships, the highlight of his career to that point… Earned three First Team All-RMAC honors and a conference crown… Won the 400 IM with a personal-best, altitude-adjusted NCAA “B” Cut time of 3:56.56… Ranks fourth in program history with that mark… Also took second in both the 200 IM and 200 back… Ranks eighth and seventh in program history with his “B” cut times of 1:48.67 (200 back) and 1:49.47 (200 IM), respectively… Also placed fifth in the 200 fly while racking up 68 team points towards the Mavs’ team title… That total was second most in the entire meet… Also helped the Mavs win the “B” section of three relays (200 medley, 200 free, 400 free)… Had turned in a season-best and NCAA “B” cut time of 1:49.64 in the 200 fly at the A3 Performance Invitational… Also had a season-best of 49.97 in the 100 fly and a personal-best of 57.30 in the 100 breast at the A3 meet… Posted a season-best of 2:07.97 in the 200 breast at the Mines dual (Jan. 10-11)… Won the 400 IM at that meet… Named to the RMAC All-Academic Honor Roll.

2018-19 (As a Freshman): Competed in seven meets, including the RMAC Championships... Scored in all five of his events, reaching the championship final in three of his four individual events... Set then personal-bests in all four... Placed fourth in the 400 IM (4:03.91) to earn Second Team All-RMAC honors... Set a NCAA "B" Cut time of 1:49.33 to take fifth in the 200 Back... Took eighth in the 100 back after posting a season-best time of 51.18 in the prelims... Finished 10th in the 200 IM (1:53.22)... Swam a leg on CMU's "B" 400 Medley Relay team, which placed sixth... Had other altitude-adjusted times of 50.31 (100 fly) and 1:59.99 (200 fly)... Earned CSCAA Honorable Mention Scholar All-America honors.

Prep: Recorded seven top-8 finishes at the Alaska High School State Championships in his high school career for the Colony HS Knights... Placed second in both the 100 fly and 200 IM as a senior at the 2017 meet... Also placed second in both those events as a junior in 2016... Was third in the 100 fly as a sophomore after placing fourth as a freshman... Also placed seventh in the 200 IM as a freshman.

Club: Swam for Coach Matt Hanley and the Northern Lights Swim Club... Was a 2-time USA Swimming Scholastic All-American... Served as a USA Swimming National Athlete Representative... Was a 7-event finalist at the 2018 Alaska Junior Olympic Championships, highlighted by a second place finish in the 200 fly... Also placed second in six different events at the 2018 Alaska Swimming Senior Championships in January.

Personal: Is majoring in kinesiology with an emphasis in exercise science... Wants to become a physical therapist or chiropractor... Son of Jim and Roxanne Simmons... Has a younger sister, Julia... Enjoys snowboarding, hiking, camping and all things outdoors.

Why I Chose CMU: "I chose CMU because the surrounding area allows me to do what I love. Another reason why I decided to come to school here isn because of the team dynamic and their drive to become better."
