2022-23 Outdoor (Redshirt Junior): Competed in five meets, including the RMAC and NCAA Division II National Championships… Contested the decathlon at two… Earned First Team USTFCCCA All-America honors with a fifth place finish at the national championships, punctuating one of the strongest all-around seasons in program history… Broke his own school-record to do so, scoring 7,241 points… Had led the field after Day 1… Had originally set the school record with 7,207 points at the Maverick Invite… Earned RMAC Field Athlete of the Week honors in the days following (Apr. 19)… Was ranked fifth in the country going into the national championships with that mark, which also allowed him to earn USTFCCCA All-South Central Region honors as the region’s second-best decathlete… Led the RMAC season-long performance list… Was named as the RMAC’s Field Athlete of the Year, becoming the first Maverick male to ever win a conference major award… Set PRs in four individual disciplines during the national meet, recording times of 10.74 (100), 49.39 (400) and 14.47 seconds (110m Hurdles)… Also broke the CMU record in the long jump with a leap of 7.57 meters (24-10)… Was the top man in the field in the 100, long jump and 110 hurdles… Had set a discus throw PR of 38.23 meters (125-5) during the Maverick Invite decathlon and a PR of 12.94 meters (42-5.5) in the shot put at the Kit Mayer Classic… Had other season-best marks of 5:05.46 (1500), 1.95m/6-4.75 (high jump), 4.30m/14-1.25 (pole vault) and 55.10m/180-9 (javelin)… Earned a pair of Second Team All-RMAC honors at the RMAC Championships, finishing fourth in three difference events… Did not contest the decathlon with NCAA qualification already assured… Finished fourth in the javelin with his aforementioned throw of 55.10 meters, which ranks him fifth  in program-history and seventh on the conference’s season-long performers list… Also posted a fourth place finish in the 110-meter hurdles (14.98) after running a then PR time of 14.50, since bettered at the NCAA Championships, in the preliminary round… Also helped the Mavs place fourth in the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 3:15.84, second fastest in program history… Ended the season ranked amongst the program’s top-10 all-time performers in ten different disciplines, including the relay… In addition to his decathlon and long jump records, he ranks second in the 110-meter hurdles, fifth in the javelin, sixth (tie) in the high jump, eighth in the 100, ninth in the 400 and tenth in the pole vault with marks that all came in the 2023 campaign… Also ended up second on the RMAC season-long performers list in the long jump, fourth in the 110 hurdles and tenth in the high jump… Was amongst the RMAC’s top 13 performers in eight different disciplines.

2022-23 Indoor (Redshirt Senior): Competed in five meets, including the RMAC and NCAA Division II National Championships… Earned Second Team USTFCCCA All-America honors in the heptathlon with a tenth place finish and score of 5,018 points… Had qualified by scoring a career-best 5,456 (5,479-converted) points at the Mountaineer Open & Multi at the start of the season, his only other heptathlon effort of the campaign… Ranks second in program history behind only 2018 national champion Spencer Jahr (5552) with his actual score… His converted score led the RMAC performance list by 264 points and ranked him third nationally heading into the NCAA Championships… Earned USTFCCCA All-South Central Region and Regional Top Performer honors after leading the region by 29 points… Did not contest the heptathlon at the RMAC Championships with NCAA Championship qualification already assured, but did place tenth in the 60-meter hurdles at the conference meet, one of six total events he had qualified for at the conference championship level… Set two career-best marks at the Mountaineer Open & Multi, posting a then school-record and NCAA Championship provisional qualifying time of 8.05 seconds (8.09-converted) the 60-meter hurdles, a record broke by teammate Zayden Davis later in the season… Also cleared 4.50 meters (14-9) in the pole vault to rank eighth in CMU history on the same day… Had other season-best times of 6.83 seconds (60m) and 3:01.29 (1000m)… Had season-best jumping marks of 7.12 meters (23-4.5) and 1.92 meters (6-3.5) in the long and high jump disciplines during the Mountaineer Open & Multi… Ranks third in CMU indoor long jump history with that mark, which also surpassed the NCAA Championship provisional qualifying standard… Also had a season-best shot put mark of 12.70 meters (41-8) at that meet… Was ranked fifth on the RMAC season-long performers list in the 60-meter hurdles and was eighth in both the 60-meter dash and pole vault… Also ranked 11th in the long jump and 17th in the high jump… Was ranked 38th nationally in the hurdles and 61st in the long jump… Ended the season ranked amongst the program’s all-time top 10 in eight different disciplines.

2022 Outdoor (Redshirt Sophomore): Competed in three meets… Threw the javelin twice, finishing 13th at the RMAC Championships after qualifying for it by posting a season-best mark of 54.11 meters (177-6) to take second place at the Colorado Invitational… Was ranked eighth on the RMAC’s season-long performance list… Ran the 110-meter hurdles in 19.58 seconds at the Maverick Top Gun Last Chance Meet.

2021-22 Indoor (Redshirt Junior): Competed in five meets, earning First Team USTFCCCA All-America honors and a RMAC title in the heptathlon… Finished fifth at the national championships with a season-best score of 5,408 points... Led the RMAC’s season-long performance list with that mark, which also allowed him to garner USTFCCCA All-South Central Region and First Team All-RMAC plaudits… Claimed the RMAC title with a score of 5,307points to qualify for the national championships… Had also won the event at the Mountaineer Open & Multi with a mark of 5,135 points… Had season-bests of 6.81 seconds (60m), 8.11 (60m Hurdles) and 2:55.36 (1000) in the running disciplines… Ranks fourth in program history in the 60 dash... Was ranked sixth on the RMAC season-long performance lists with converted times of 6.85 and 8.13, both of which were NCAA Championship provisional qualifying marks… Posted PRs of 1.95 meters (6-4.75) in the high jump, 4.45 meters (14-7.25) in the pole vault, 6.99 meters (22-11.25) in the long jump and 11.72 meters (38-5.5) in the shot put at the NCAA Championships.

2021: Redshirted during both the indoor and outdoor seasons.

2020 Outdoor: Season canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

2019-20 Indoor (Sophomore): Competed in two meets before sustaining an injury, which kept him out of the rest of the year… Set a season-best and NCAA provisional qualifying score of 5,029 points in the opening meet of the season at the Mines Alumni Classic & Multi on Dec. 5-6… His converted score of 5,066 was fifth best on the RMAC season-long performers list and ranked him 25th nationally… All of his individual discipline season-bests were turned in during the effort… Ran 8.37 in the 60-meter hurdles... Was ninth on the RMAC season-long performers list with his altitude-adjusted time of 8.39 seconds… Had a long jump effort of 6.70 meters (21-11.75)… Also had season-bests of 7.05 in the 60-meter dash, 10.34 meters (33-11.25) in the shot put and 4.20 meters (13-9.25) in the pole vault… Had other season-best marks of 1.91 meters (6-3.25) in the high jump and 3:03.76 in the 1,000 meters… Helped CMU win the event at The Power 5 in 3:26.56 as well.

2019 Outdoor (Freshman): Competed in four meets, including the RMAC Championships... Scored in the decathlon, placing seventh with 5,340 points... Had set a former PR of 5,402 in the season-opening Glenn Morris Multi to finish eighth on the RMAC's season-long performers list... Had a season-best in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 15.67 seconds, set at the Don Kirby Tailwind Open... Other season-bests were 11.21w (100), 51.53 (400), 5:02.80 (1500), 1.65m/5-5 (high jump), 3.87m/12-8.25 (pole vault), 6.42mw/21-0.75 (long jump), 9.80m/32-2 (shot put), 28.31m/92-10 (discus), and 37.73m/123-9 (javelin).

2018-19 Indoor (Freshman): Competed in six meets, contesting the heptathlon at three... Finished ninth in that event at the RMAC Championships with a season-best score of 4,273 points... Posted a 1000m time of 2:53.71, fifth fastest in CMU history, at the Mines Alumni Classic to wrap up his first heptathlon... Ran the hurdles in season-best 8.78 seconds at a later Mines meet... Cleared a season-best 1.93 meters (6-6.25) in the high jump at the RMAC Championships... Had other season-bests of 7.44 (60m), 24.22 (200m), 3.65m/11-11.75 (pole vault), 6.29m/20-7.75 (long jump) and 9.57m/31-4.75 (shot put).

Prep: Finished seventh at the 3A State Championships in the 400 meters as a senior (2018) with the Bayfield HS Wolverines, coached by his father Gary... Set a PR time of 50.16 in the preliminary heats... Had other PRs of 23.24 (200) and 6-0 (HJ) during that year as well... Helped the Wolverines win the team team title in 2018... Also helped the Wolverines win state titles in football and basketball during his 2017-18 senior year.

Personal: Is majoring in liberal arts with a business focus... Aspires to become a professional athlete, a dream that he has had since third grade that has turned into reaching the Olympics as a decathlete... Would also like to have a career in professional sports and business/enrepreneurship... Would like to live off the grid for some time as well.. Son of Gary and Candy Heide… Twin brother Carl was also a Maverick track and field athlete.. Sisters are Gena and Destry... Enjoys lifting weights and calisthenics... Loves testing and trying random things

Why I Chose CMU: "I was given an opportunity for sports that no other college would have given me. I was also kind of on a bandwagon along with some of my fiends because I really didn’t know what I actually wanted.
