As a Senior (2021-22): Competed in nine meets, including the RMAC Championships… Scored in all four of his individual events, reaching the championship final in both butterfly events… Finished sixth in the 100 and seventh in the 200… Also placed tenth in the 100 free and 15
th in the 50 free… Also helped the Mavs win the “B” section races in the 200 medley, 200 free and 400 medley relays… Contributed 32 team points in his four individual events and 45 ½ in total when accounting for his share of the relay points… Set season-best times of 21.06 (50 free), 46.31 (100 free), 49.59 (100 fly) and 1:53.82 (200 fly) during the RMAC Championships… The 50 free, 100 free and 100 fly times were also personal-bests… Helped the Mavs set a NCAA “B” cut time of 3:15.73 in the 400 medley relay.
As a Junior (2020-21): Competed in five meets, including the RMAC Championships during the pandemic-abbreviated season… Scored in all four of his events at the conference meet, accumulating 36 total team points… Advanced to the championship final in both butterfly events taking sixth in the 200 and eighth in the 100… Had altitude-adjusted season-best times of 49.95 and 1:52.91 in those events during the conference meet… Won the consolation final to place ninth overall in the 100 free with a personal-best time of 46.50 (converted)… Finished 14
th in the 50 free with a personal-best time of 21.26… Had a pair of top-5 finishes in the 100 fly in the two dual meets he contested that event.
As a Sophomore (2019-20): Competed in eight meets, including the RMAC Championships as an exhibition swimmer… Contested five events at the conference meet, setting a personal-best of 46.56 in the 100 free… Had set other personal bests of 21.28 (50 free), 49.82 (100 Fly) and 1:51.59 (200 fly) during the A3 Performance Invitational.
As a Freshman (2018-19): Competed in three meets, including the RMAC Championships as an exhibition swimmer... Had altitude-adjusted personal-best times of 22.00 (50 free), 47.95 (100 free), 23.83 (50 fly), 51.26 (100 fly) at the A3 Performance Invite.
Prep: Finished third in the 100 fly at the 2018 Colorado 4A State Championships as a senior... Competed for Pueblo County HS but attended Lamar HS... Helped win a 200 free state title... Had a personal-best time of 51.56... Also qualified for the state meet in the 200 free, finishing 10th (1:48.01)... Placed fifth in the 100 fly and 17th in the 200 free as a junior in 2017... Was a 2016 state qualifier as well.
Personal: Is majoring in applied mathematics with aspirations of going on to graduate school.. Son of Amy and Austin Wertz.
