2021-22 (Redshirt Junior): Competed in eight meets, including the RMAC and NCAA Division II National Championships… Was a first-time national qualifier after reaching the NCAA “B” standard in five individual events during the season… Competed in four at the national meet, finishing between 26h an 28th place… Was 26th in both the 200 breast and 200 IM… Finished 27th in the 400 IM and 28th in the 100 breast… Had a strong RMAC Championship meet, scoring in all seven of his events while earning three overall All-RMAC honors… Earned first team accolades and a silver medal with a runner-up finish and personal-best and NCAA qualifying time of 1:48.69 in the 200 IM to rank fifth in CMU history… Also had a PB time of 3:57.57 in the 400 IM, to win the consolation final of that event… Ranks sixth in CMU history for that discipline… Also claimed two other Second Team All-RMAC honors in the breaststroke events finishing third in the 200 and fourth in the 100… Had set personal-best and converted times of 2:00.03 (200 breast) and 54.61 (100 breast) at the A3 Performance Invitational… Won the 200 breast at that meet and ranks second in CMU history… Is ranked third in the 100-yard distance… Also set a NCAA “B” cut time of 45.31 in a 100 free time trial during the A3 meet… Went on to swim a leg on CMU’s “B” 200 Free, 400 Medley and 400 Free Relay teams that each won their heat to place ninth overall at the RMAC Championships… Scored 57 team points in his four individual events at the RMAC Championships… Accounted for 70 ½ in total, when accounting for his share of the relay points.
2020-21 (Junior): Did not compete during the pandemic-abbreviated season.
2019-20 (Sophomore): Competed in nine meets, including the RMAC Championships… Advanced to the championship finals in all four of his individual events, winning the 200 IM with a personal-best and NCAA “B” cut time of 1:49.01 (altitude-adjusted)… Ranks fifth in program history with that mark… Earned three All-RMAC certificates, garnering first team honors in both the 200 IM and 200 breast, an event he finished second in…. Also took third in the 100 breast with a personal-best “B” cut mark of 55.48 (altitude-adjusted) to earn second team plaudits… Ranks third in program history with that that time… Finished eighth in the 400 IM after setting a season-best altitude-adjusted time of 4:01.69 in the preliminary heats… Racked up 64 team points in his four individual events while swimming on the Mavs’ “B” section winning relay teams in the 200 medley, 400 medley and 800 free… Ranks second in program history in the 200 breast with a NCAA “B” cut time of 2:00.39, which came at the A3 Performance Invitational… Won that event at the Mines Dual (Jan. 10-11).
2018-19 (Freshman): Competed in eighth meets, including the RMAC Championships… Qualified for the finals in each of his individual events, earning Second Team All-RMAC honors after finishing fourth in the 200 IM with a NCAA “B” Cut time of 1:51.19… Is ranked in the Mavs’ top 10 in both breaststroke and both IM events… Also finished fifth in the 200 breast at the RMAC Championships after turning in a preliminary time of 2:04.25… Finished seventh in the 400 IM and eighth in the 100 breast with a season-best time of 56.92… Scored 52 individual points at the conference meet… Also competed on CMU’s “B” team in two relays, placing fifth in the 400 free and sixth in the 400 medley... Had won the 200 IM earlier in the season at the A3 Performance Invitational… Was also a four- event finalist at that meet… Finished third in the 400 IM at that meet with an altitude-adjusted time of 4:01.08… Also won the 200 IM in a dual at Division I BYU.
Prep: Swam for the Louis D. Brandeis HS Broncos and coach Megan Perez… Earned 2017 NISCA All-America honors after winning both the 100 breast (56.66) and 200 IM (1:50.85) titles at the 2017 Texas UIL Region 7-6A Championships as a junior…. Went on to place 10th in the 100 breast and 18th in the 200 IM at that year’s 6A Texas State Championships… Also placed 13th (200 IM) and 16th (100 breast) at the state championships as a senior in 2018.
Personal: Son of Brandon and Tracy Barrett… Has one older brother Ryan… Is majoring in business administration.
