2021-22 (Redshirt Junior): Competed in four meets, including the RMAC Championships while juggling her time as a student-teacher… Set season-best times in all four of her individual events at the conference meet, claiming top-5 finishes in each… Earned a pair of Second Team All-RMAC honors… Finished third in both the 1000 and 1650 free with NCAA “B” cut altitude adjusted times of 10:23.28 and 17:17.65… Also set a “B” cut time of 5:04.71 in the 500 free prelims, before going on to take finish fifth… Also took fifth in the 200 fly with a converted time of 2:09.56… Accounted for 60 team points in her four individual events while also swimming a leg on CMU’s “B” and heat-winning 800 free relay team that officially finished ninth… Named to the RMAC All-Academic Honor Roll.
2020-21 (Junior): Competed in six meets, including the RMAC and NCAA Division II National Championships during the COVID-abbreviated, yet very successful campaign… Earned three CSCAA Honorable Mention/Second Team All-America honors at the NCAA Division II Championships placing 14th in the 1000 free, 15th in the 1650 free and 11th as part of the Mavs’ 200 free relay team in what was her first national meet… Set the former CMU record in the 1000 free with her time of 10:13.91 at the national meet in Birmingham, Alabama… Still ranks second in program history with that time... Had placed second in both the 1000 and 1650 free at the RMAC Championships to earn First Team All-RMAC honors in both… Also qualified for the national championships in three individual events during the RMAC Championships… Set the former CMU record of 17:09.99 (altitude-adjusted) in the 1650 free at the RMAC meet and still ranks second in Maverick history… Also placed third in both the 500 free and 200 fly at the conference meet claiming second team all-conference honors in both… Scored 66 team points in her four individual events at the RMAC Championships, third most in the entire meet… Had an NCAA “B” cut and personal-best time of 5:01.07 (altitude-adjusted) in the 500 free to rank seventh in school-history… Had a personal-best time of 2:07.93 in the 200 fly to rank eighth in CMU lore… Named to the RMAC All-Academic First Team and as a CSCAA First Team Scholar All-American… Won both the 500 and 1000 free in a Jan. 22 dual against Division I BYU… Also won the 1000 free against Western Colorado on Oct. 31.
2019-20 (Sophomore): Competed in 11 meets, including the RMAC Championships and Horsetooth Open Water… Earned three Second Team All-RMAC certificates while contributing 60 points towards CMU’s championship-record scoring win a the conference meet… Set NCAA “B” cut times in each of her three distance freestyle events… Finished third in the 1,000 free with an altitude-adjusted season-best of 10:21.4… Also earned Second Team All-RMAC honors with fourth place finishes in the 1650 free and 200 fly… Had a season-best, altitude-adjusted and NCAA provisional qualifying time of 17:15.79, second fastest in the 1650 free… Set a season-best of 2:09.02 in the 200 fly prelims… Finished fifth in the 500 free at the RMAC meet… Also swam on the Mavs’ secondary 800 free relay team that won the “B” section… Had a season-best and NCAA “B” cut time of 5:04.06 in the 500 free at the A3 Performance Invitational... Was named to the RMAC All-Academic First Team... Won both the 500 and 1,000 free at the Jan. 18 home dual against Western Colorado... Had won the 1000 free at the Oct. 24 away dual against the Mountaineers... Had other season-bests of 1:00.31 (100 fly) and 1:57.06 (200 free)... Named as an Honorable Mention CSCAA Scholar All-American.
2018-19 (Freshman): Named as the RMAC Freshman of the Year after a strong RMAC Championship meet, one of eight she competed in throughout the year... Accounted for 49 team points in her four individual events to lead all RMAC freshman... Placed third in the 1000 free and fourth in the 1650 free to earn a pair of Second Team All-RMAC honors... Had then personal-best times of 10:25.58 and 17:48.92 in those events... Also advanced to the championship final in the 500 free, placing seventh, after turning a season-best time of 5:10.19 in the preliminary heats... Was 11th in the 400 IM with a personal-best of 4:38.65... Led the Mavs second 800 free team to the "B" heat win as well... Won the 500 free at Adams State before taking both the 500 and 1000 free in the dual finale against Western Colorado... Posted a season-best time of 2:09.87 in the 200 fly at the A3 Performance Invite... Also had a season-best times of 1:56.72 (200 free) and 58.86 (100 fly) at that meet.
Prep: 500 Free Centennial League Champion (5:15.86) for the Eric Craven coached Cherry Creek HS Bruins… Placed 15th in the 200 IM at the 2018 5A State Championships with personal-best time of 2:12.17 (2:10.97-altitude adjusted)… 4-year state qualifier… Served as team captain and was the Bruins' season MVP.
Club: Swam for Coach Shawn Smith and the Denver Hilltoppers becoming a well-rounded swimmer for both short course and long course... Qualified for sectionals and posted long course best times of 1:05.78 (100 Fly), 2:26.59 (200 Fly) and 5:14.76 (400 IM)... Had a short-course 200-yard fly time of 2:07.45.
Personal: Is majoring in elementary education and is student-teaching at Rim Rock Elementary during the 2021-22 academic year... Youngest of three daughters born to Randy and Judy Naze… Sisters Katie and Kelly swam collegiately at Denver and Cal (Berkeley), respectively… Enjoys hiking, fishing, traveling with her family and playing with her puppy Cheyenne whenever she is home.
Why I Chose CMU: “I picked Colorado Mesa University because it felt like home. I fell in love with the team and coaches because they are encouraging and welcoming. Also, the beautiful campus and good academics help fulfill my career aspirations of becoming an elementary education teacher, to help inspire the youth. I picked CMU to challenge myself and grow as a person in and out of the pool."
