GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.- After their first home stand of the season, the Colorado Mesa University men's soccer team will head up to Idaho to take on Northwest Nazarene in their lone match of the week. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. inside NNU Soccer & Lacrosse Field.
The game will be livestreamed on the GNAC Network (paid subscription required) and will have live stats available.
Week in Review
In their first two home matches of the year, the Mavs faced the University of Jamestown and UC Merced. The Mavs drew with both teams. They would play an exciting 2-2 draw against the Jimmies and then play a 1-1 draw against the Bobcats.
Richie Tabares Ochoa continues his hot streak as he scored his team-leading third goal of the season against UC Merced with
Jonah Elstad and
James Maxwell adding goals against Jamestown as well.
Kamden Kooiman would also add to his assist total with two against the Jimmies.
Nathan Beck started in both games and made seven saves.
About Northwest Nazarene
Saturday's match will mark the eighth time these two teams will face off. The last time they played was in Nampa when the Nighthawks came out on top in a 4-3 slugfest. The Nighthawks this year have gone off to a good start; drawing against Westminster, MSU Denver and Cal State Humboldt before getting a win against Menlo.
Forward Caleb Putney has been an juggernaut on the offensive side of the ball, leading the team in both goals (2) and assists (2). Alex Barragan, Elijah Grimaldo and Rylan McPherson all have added to the goal total with Carson Din and Abdullahi Sharif tacking on assists as well. The goalkeeper tandem of Elijah Brockl and Gerardo Torres Fonte have both made starts with Brockl making 12 saves and Torres Fonte making two.
Take A Look Ahead
After their short trip to Idaho, will return home on Sept. 17 for a Thursday night match against RMAC foe Fort Lewis that will not count towards the conference standings. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. inside Community Hospital Unity Field.
