HONOLULU, Hawai'i— Jade Brilhante and
Jane Steur delivered singles wins to lead the Colorado Mesa University women's team in a 4-2 loss to Point Loma Nazarene University as the Mavs wrapped up their 3-match, 3-day trip to Hawai'i with a 1-2 record.
The Mavs fell to 11-14 overall while the Sea Lions, who hail from San Diego, California, improved to 14-3 with their 12
th win in their last 13 outings.
Brilhante, who is from the Big Island and the city of Hilo, won her seventh straight singles match claiming a 6-4, 6-3 victory over Anna Pallencaoe in the third flight. She went a combined 4-0 with two unfinished doubles match throughout the trip, CMU's first ever to the islands.
Meanwhile, Steur won 7-5, 6-4 at No. 6 singles over Melissa Zirkle.

Valentina Gonzalez also had a slight 2-6, 7-5, 3-2 lead over Emely Valencia Andrejeva in the No. 2 match that was left unfinished after the Sea Lions clinched the dual with a win at No. 5 singles.
The Sea Lions had squeaked out the double point, taking 6-4 wins at No. 2 and 3.
Meanwhile, Brilhante and
Devyn Rodriguez were tied at five with Pallencaoe and Valenica Adrejeva in the top flight in another unfinished match.
CMU will be back in action next Saturday taking on NCAA Division I Utah Tech in a pair of duals in St. George, Utah. The second match-up of the 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. doubleheader will be an exhibition for the Mavs.
