Reed Thyne's 40 leads #4 Mavericks to RMAC Tournament Semifinal win

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – Olivia Reed Thyne's 40 point night propelled the No. 4 Colorado Mesa women's basketball team to a 94-57 win over the visiting fifth-seeded Black Hills State Yellowjackets in the semifinals of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Tournament on Friday (Mar. 6) evening in Brownson Arena.

The three-time RMAC Player of the Year finished with a season-high 40 points on 16-for-19 shooting from the field and 8-for-10 from the line. The 40 points is tied for the third best output in Colorado Mesa history and makes her the first player to have two 40-point games in Maverick history.

She holds the school for points in a game with 45 that occurred back on December 20, 2024 against Pittsburg State in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.

Reed Thyne added 12 rebounds, four steals, four assists and two blocked shots in the win. It was her 18th double-double of the season and the 61st of her career.

Colorado Mesa shot 59.7 percent from the field and a 39-25 rebounding advantage in the win. The Mavericks had a 54-36 advantage in points in the paint and were 14-0 in fast break points.

The Yellowjackets (18-11) shot 41.3 percent from the field but made only one three pointer on the night.

Mason Rowland added 21 points on 9-for-18 shooting from the field and added six rebounds, four assists and a steal.

Freshman Hallie Clark finished in double figures with 10 points and added five assists.

Ten different Mavericks scored while eight finished with at least one assist.

Black Hills State was led by Brinlee McRae who finished with 18 points on 9-for-19 shooting while Taylin Serlen finished with 16 points 7-for-8 shooting.

Colorado Mesa moves their record to 32-1 on the season and has the best record in NCAA Division II. The 32 wins is a program record and moves ahead of the 2012-13 team that reached the Elite Eight.

The Mavericks advance to the RMAC Tournament Championship for the second straight season and will have a rematch of last season's Tournament Championship when they will face second-seeded UCCS at 6pm in Brownson Arena.
