GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.- The Colorado Mesa University men's soccer team finds themselves fighting for the last RMAC Tournament spot.
They will have an opportunity to set themselves up in a good spot with two crucial matches against Colorado Christian and MSU Denver.
The Mavs will host the Cougars at 7 p.m. on Friday and then travel to Denver to play the Roadrunners on Sunday at 2:30 p.m.
Last Time Out
The Mavs played two road matches against Regis and South Dakota Mines. The Rangers dismantled them 3-0, and they then drew with the Hardrockers 3-3.
Richie Tabares Ochoa scored every goal for the Mavs as he scored the seventh hat trick in program history. Nathan Beck made 12 saves over the road trip as well.
RMAC Tournament Chase
Only one of the six spots have been clinched so far with CSU Pueblo booking their ticket to the tournament. Five spots are up for grabs as the regular season enters the last two weeks.
CSU Pueblo are the leaders with Regis, Fort Lewis and UCCS all following behind and expected to clinch their spots.
South Dakota Mines, Westminster, CMU and MSU Denver are all in the running for the last two spots; making these last few games incredibly important.
Colorado Christian has an outside chance of making it in, but a lot would have to go their way in order for that to happen.
Ties Galore
In a season full of statistical wonders, the Mavs found themselves setting a new team record. With their tie against South Dakota Mines, the team has now drawn seven times this season, which is a new program record.
The Mavs will look to turn those draws into wins with these next two matches.
The Wonderful RTO
Tabares Ochoa put up one of the best single game performances in program history as he scored every goal of his hat trick off free kicks.
Tabares Ochoa's performance netted him his first career RMAC Offensive Player of the Week award, the first since Matteo Bonelli in 2025.
He joins Nathan Beck as the only Mavs to win an RMAC weekly award this season.
About Colorado Christian
The Cougars have a 3-8-4 record with an RMAC record of 2-5; they find themselves on the outside looking in for the RMAC Tournament.
These teams faced each other over a month ago with the Mavs coming out on top 3-0.
Antonio Lugo leads the team in goals with five while Benjamin Brown and Rayce Haldy lead in assists with five.
Campbell Wolfgram leads in saves with 54 on 195 shots faced.
About MSU Denver
The Roadrunners are just behind the Mavs in the standings with an overall record of 6-5-3. However, they picked up a massive win against UCCS in their last match and will look to continue their great run of form.
Jace Starling leads the team with five goals and scored a brace in the UCCS game. Colin McKenna paces the team with five assists as well.
Dominic Miller has started all 14 games in goal for the Roadrunners, totaling 44 saves.
