COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.— The Colorado Mesa University triathlon team was picked third in the NCAA Division II portion of the recently released Collegiate Triathlon Coaches Association (CTCA) 2024 Coaches Preseason Poll. The rankings are based off CTCA member coach voting in their respective division.
The Mavericks also took third in the Division II standings at last year's Women's Collegiate Triathlon National Championships and return three 2023 and four total CTCA All-Americans to this year's roster.
Defending Division II National Champion Lenoir Rhyne and runner-up Wingate were the only two teams picked ahead of the Mavs. Regional rivals Drury and Black Hills State rounded out the top five while Emmanuel, Cal Poly Humboldt, Newberry, Indianapolis and Roberts Wesleyan were picked sixth through tenth, respectively.
Arizona State and North Central were picked atop the Division I and III polls, respectively.
