GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – For the fourth time in the series with Colorado School of Mines, the Colorado Mesa baseball team came from behind to defeat the Orediggers 15-8 in the series finale on Monday (Mar. 18) afternoon at The Diamond at the Bus Bergman Sports Complex.
Jonathan Gonzalez gave the Mavericks the early lead as he hit a home run in the bottom of the first inning on a 2-1 pitch that reached the parking lot beyond the netting in left field. It was the senior second baseman's second home run of the season.
The Orediggers took the lead in the bottom of the third inning as they scored a pair of runs on four hits in the inning.
Colorado Mesa took the lead back for the first time in the game as they scored three runs on the frame.
Robert Sharrar hit his seventh home run of the season before
Kolby Felix had an RBI single to shortstop.
Jared Hanks closed out the scoring by drawing a bases loaded hit by pitch to make it 4-2 after three full innings.
Colorado School of Mines regained the lead in the fifth inning as they scored three runs on four hits in the inning to take a 5-4 lead.
The Mavericks took the lead for good in the bottom half of the seventh inning.
Tyler Glowacki delivered a pinch-hit run scoring triple to make it 5-5 as
Derek Shaver stepped to the plate just one batter later. Shaver belted his second home run of the weekend, a two-run shot to left center that gave the Mavericks a 7-5 lead.
They would score one more in the seventh and tack on seven runs in the eighth inning before Mines would respond with three runs of their own in the top of the ninth.
Gonzalez finished the game 4-for-5 with two runs scored and two runs driven in while
Kolby Felix went 2-for-4 with two runs scored, two runs driven in and a home run.
Sharrar added two more hits and finished the weekend hitting .588.
Jordan Ellison earned the win on the mound as six different pitchers saw action on Monday. Ellison pitched three hitless innings where he allowed just one walked and struck out five.

Bridger Clontz and
Brenden Morris combined to pitch three innings and allowed one hit and a walk.
Colorado Mesa has now won seven straight and have taken control in the RMAC standings. They are three games up in the win column (a game and a half lead) on idle Regis and two games up on CSU Pueblo.
The Mavericks are back in action on Friday as they host Colorado Christian for four games at The Diamond.
