PUEBLO, Colo. – The No. 19 Colorado Mesa baseball team completed the four-game sweep of the CSU Pueblo ThunderWolves on Saturday (Apr. 8) afternoon with a 9-6 in the series finale at Rawlings Field to remain in the driver's seat in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.
CSU Pueblo took the early 1-0 lead in the second inning while the Mavericks took the lead in the next half 3-1 and never trailed after that. They were tied in the third but Colorado Mesa extended the lead out in the fourth inning and never looked back.
Several batters had standout days led by
Robert Sharrar's 4-for-5 performance with two runs driven in, a double and a sacrifice fly. He got the Maverick scoring started with a sac fly in the third inning then had an RBI single in the fourth inning to cap his effort.
Julian Boyd,
Harrison Rodgers,
Paul Schoenfeld, and
Ethan Ezor all finished the game with three hits. Schoenfeld and Rodgers each had a double in the game while Ezor had two doubles. Schoenfeld added a triple in the top of the ninth inning to help the Mavericks to some insurance runs in the inning.
Boyd hit his seventh home run of the season in the top of the eighth inning on a 1-1 pitch that was sent out to left center field.
On the mound, Colorado Mesa took a little bit of a different approach to the game as they used six different pitchers with
Cole Seward earning the start. He went three innings and allowed three runs on three hits with three strikeouts and didn't factor into the decision.

Joey Mazzetti, Brendon Morris, and
Jordan Ellison all say action on the mound.
Ure earned the win on the mound after allowing one run (unearned) on two hits with one strikeout in two innings of work.
Ellison earned his first save as a Maverick as he pitched a scoreless ninth inning.
Colorado Mesa improved to 27-8 on the season and 18-2 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference while hanging onto their three-game lead, with the tiebreaker, in the conference over MSU Denver. The ThunderWolves fall to 12-23 on the season and 9-11 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.
The Mavericks will be on their conference bye week but will still be busy with a three-game series with No. 4 ranked Rollins at The Diamond at the Bus Bergman Sports Complex The series will begin on Friday at 6:05pm.
