GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – Colorado Mesa women's basketball gave a red-hot Regis team all it could handle before fading in the fourth quarter and losing 66-60.
The Mavericks led by four, trailed by one and led by three at the end of the first three quarters but were outscored 24-15 in the final period of a game that had 15 lead changes and seven ties throughout. The final margin of six points was the largest lead of the game for either team. CMU is now 7-14 overall and 6-9 in the RMAC while Regis set a program record with its 12
th consecutive win.
The close loss dampered a career night for
Monica Brooks, the team's lone senior who set a new career high with 25 points by shooting 10 for 18 from the field, 3 of 5 from three-point range and 2 of 2 from the line. Brooks added six rebounds and four assists.
Kylie Kravig had 11 points to score in double figures for CMU and finished with four assists, tying Brooks for the team lead.
Olivia Reed tallied nine points and seven rebounds for the Mavs, and

The Mavs jumped out to an early lead, closing the first quarter on an 8-0 run consisting of a
Kylie Kravig three, two Kravig free throws and a
Josee Steadman three with six seconds left that put CMU up 19-15. The Mavericks relied on Brooks in the second, as the senior scored eight of CMU's ten points as Regis went to the locker room with a narrow lead after hitting two go-ahead free throws with nine seconds left in the half.
Brooks added another eight points in the third quarter as the Mavs shot 41.2 percent as a team in the period. The script flipped in the fourth, however, as it was Regis who shot 41.7 percent while the Mavs could only hit 5 of 17 attempts in the final 10 minutes. The Mavericks still had the score tied with two minutes to play, but a 5-0 Regis run put the game out of reach as the Rangers hit the majority of their free throws down the stretch.
