SALT LAKE CITY – Colorado Mesa and Westminster battled for 90 minutes without either side finding the net as the two teams played to a 0-0 tie at Dumke Field in Salt Lake.
The Mavericks move to 8-2-3 overall and are 3-0-2 in the RMAC. They now extend their unbeaten streak to 10 matches, the fourth-longest streak in program history. Westminster is now 6-4-3 overall and 3-1-1 in the RMAC after the tie.
It was a tale of two halves, with Westminster outshooting CMU 8-2 over the first 45 minutes but the Mavericks responding by outshooting the home team 7-1 in the second half. Each team took four corner kicks while CMU placed five shots on goal compared to two for Westminster.
Diego Chavez made saves in the 26
th and 84
th minutes to earn a shutout in net for the second straight game and the fourth time this season.
Alec Fronapfel and
Connor Chilson had two shots apiece to lead the Mavericks. Chilson had two shots on goal, along with one each from Fronapfel,
Dimitrios Leonoglou and
Moses Magens.
Colorado Mesa plays next at Colorado Christian on Sunday at noon.
