Dody's Career Day Not Enough In Loss

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – A first-half goal held up for No. 15 Colorado School of Mines as the Orediggers defeated the Colorado Mesa women's soccer team on Friday night in Golden by a score of 1-0.

The loss drops the Mavs to 4-5-1 overall with a 2-2 mark in RMAC play ahead of their upcoming match against Regis on Sunday afternoon.

Katie Koehler scored in the 39th minute while Reese McDermott paced Mines with six shots and three shots on goal.

The high-powered Mines offense launched a full assault on the Mavs' goal, and a career day for goalkeeper Chloe Dody held the Orediggers to just a single goal.

A game after setting a career high with seven saves against UCCS, Dody exceeded that total in just the first half on Friday night, stopping nine shots in the first 45 minutes and 12 over the course of the entire match.

Overall, the Orediggers outshot the Mavericks 24-11, putting 13 shots on target to CMU's three. Being outshot is an unfamiliar position for the Mavs, who entered the game leading the RMAC in shots and shots on goal per game and featuring Division II's individual leader in both those categories in redshirt sophomore forward Lila Dere.

Dere, in her first match since pulling within one of the all-time CMU goalscoring record, finished with four total shots and two shots on goal. Midfielder Haley Klasner had the other two shots on target for the Mavs.
