Women's Lacrosse Season Comes to an End in RMAC Final

DENVER, Colo. – In their first Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference championship showing, the Colorado Mesa women's lacrosse team battled against No. 10 Regis but came up short, 15-6.

Both teams matched up well, each taking 20 plus shots and converting on three free position opportunities. The Mavs finished 19-of-22 in clears, picked up 21 ground balls and held a 15-8 edge in draw controls.

Lauren Wick collected two goals on the day, joined by Kiley Davis who put together a goal, three ground balls and three caused turnovers on the day. Ashton Whittle was in on six draw controls, picked up a ground ball and caused a turnover.

Wick, Davis and Whittle landed on the All-Tournament team along with goalkeeper Adelaine Charlsen who finished the day with five saves.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Kyleigh Peoples, who was dubbed tournament MVP, opened the scoring in the first minute of play, and would become an early 4-0 run.

Regan Wentz put CMU on the board near the 20-minute mark. Lauren Wick followed up with a free-position goal to cut the lead in half. Peyton Ivey with assistance from Brianna Anderson netted the team's third goal under the 6-minute mark.

Kiley Davis found the net with two minutes left in the first half, but the Mavs trailed by five going into the break.

Wick and Melanie Evans scored in the early minutes of the second half, but would be the only goals of the half. Regis added six more to their total for the final 15-6 score.

The Mavericks season comes to an end with an official 8-5 record.
