SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The Colorado Mesa (7-4, 7-1 RMAC) women's lacrosse team put together 20-goals Saturday afternoon, claiming the road win and season sweep of Westminster Saturday afternoon on Dumke Field.
CMU held a 33-19 shot advantage, won 17 draw controls to the Griffins nine, and were successful in all but one clear.
Six Mavericks contributed multiple goals, with
Kiley Davis leading the way with four.
Regan Wentz and
Ashton Whittle also added three goals each. Whittle was also in on seven draw controls.
Goalkeeping duties were split between
Lula Mitchell and
Adelaine Charlsen, with Mitchell earning the victory behind six saves.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Scoring opened with a goal by
Melanie Evans, followed by Evans assisting
Kiley Davis to give the Mavs an early lead. Midway through the first half, the visiting Mavs went on a scoring spree, putting eight unanswered goals on the board.
By the end of the first half, CMU held a 14-3 advantage.
Throughout the second 30-minutes of play, CMU tacked on six more goals, withholding the Griffins to just two goals.
This is the second game the Mavericks have strung together a 20-point performance, the last being in a 24-1 win over Adams State.

With a 7-1 record in conference play, they are a few games ahead of UCCS, securing a No. 2 seed in the upcoming Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference tournament which will be held at the No. 1 seed.
