GOLDEN, Colo. – The Colorado Mesa women's basketball team's comeback attempt came up just a little short on Friday (Mar. 5) evening at Lockridge Arena in a 50-47 loss to No. 24 Colorado School of Mines in the semifinals of the RMAC Tournament.
The Mavericks trailed by as many as 12 in the fourth quarter with 9:42 to play. They proceeded to go on an 8-0 to cut the Oredigger lead to four at 43-39 after a made bucket by
Sierra McNicol.
Colorado Mesa cut it to two with 14 seconds left after another made layin by McNicol but that was all the closer they would get in the matchup.
The Maverick defense limited Mines to just 25.4 percent shooting from the field which is the lowest the Orediggers have shot this season. They limited them to just two made field goals in each of the first and fourth quarters of play. They also limited one of the best players in the RMAC, Denali Pinto, to 0-for-11 from the field and 0-for-8 from beyond the arc.
The quarter that did the Mavericks in was the second where they allowed 19 points on 41 percent shooting from the field. They were also outrebounded 46-32 in the game including a 17-5 advantage in offensive rebounds.

Kylyn Rigsby finished the game with a game-high 13 points while teammate
Daniella Turner had 11 points.
The Mavericks finish the regular season with a 14-8 mark and will now await the word of the NCAA whether they have done enough or not to make it into the NCAA West Regional that will be hosted in Grand Junction next weekend.
