Mavericks Upset in RMAC Semis

Grand Junction, Colo. – The women's soccer tournament run was halted Wednesday night, as the visiting Regis Rangers avenged their regular season loss, knocking the Mavericks out of the tournament by a 3-0 decision.

The Mavericks outshot their opponent by a 22-13 margin, and put seven shots between the pipes, the Rangers taking eight. Majority of Colorado Mesa's shot were from a distance, the defense not allowing the Mavs a clear shot at the goal.

Katelyn Martin made seven saves, Chloe Dody finished with five. Lila Dere took the most shots with eight, but her number was tagged by the Rangers as they limited her to just two shots on goal. Sophia Beames was the other with a pair of looks at the net.
Regis held possession for a good part of the game, each of their goals coming on breakaways, two of which were assists from the backfield.

The Ranger struck first just under the 6th-minute, with Kelby Kuo taking advantage of the 1v1. The 1-0 score would be upheld for the remainder of the half.
Goals two and three of the night, came within a couple minutes of one another.

Colorado Mesa had a good look late in the game, but Martin would turn the attempt away. The Mavs attempted 17 shots in the second half alone, working tirelessly to even the score.

The team will wait for the NCAA Selection show to Monday evening, to determine if their regional ranking is enough for their season to continue.
