Mahmoud Elgayar was named as the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Men's Swimmer of the Week.
The announcement was made by conference officials on Monday afternoon after Elgayar's performances during the Maverick Open, a set of time trials, held on Saturday morning in Grand Junction.
It is the second such weekly honor for the Cairo, Egypt native, who was named as the RMAC Swimmer of the Year last season.
Elgayar, a 7-time overall all-American and 5-time RMAC Champion in his first two seasons as a Maverick, posted a time of 2:00.46 in the 200-yard breaststroke and ranks second as of Monday morning on the NCAA Division II Top Times report with the altitude-adjusted mark of 1:59.26. He also ranks seventh in the 100 breast with an altitude-adjusted time of 54.86 and sits eighth in the 200 individual medley at 1:50.47 (altitude-adjusted).
