GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – After 90 minutes of action the Mavericks and Jets took the game into overtime which was quickly ended by Newman's Kyla Kreemer who scored the game winning goal 55 seconds into the ten minute overtime. The Mavericks' record fell to 3-1-0 Sunday afternoon at Walker Field while the Jets' record improved to 3-0-1.
The Mavericks suffered their first loss of the season after outshooting the Jets 13-6 and taking three corner kicks while allowing the Jets to take zero. Seven of the Mavs 13 shots were on target but Newman's' goalkeeper Jackie Lari came up big with seven saves.
The Mavericks defense limited Newman to just two shots on goal. Starting goalkeeper Kamrie Gunderson recorded one save throughout the game.
The Mavericks kept thing conservative during he first half only taking five shots and one of their three corner kicks. Their aggressive defense limited the Jets to just one shot.
In the second half their offense sparked taking eight shots. The Mavericks took the final corner kick in the 80th minute which gave them two good looks in front of the goal, but neither found the back of the net.
Overtime lasted no longer than one minute before Newman scored the game winning goal.

The Mavericks will begin Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play next weekend against Colorado Christian and Colorado School of Mines. On Friday Sept 20 the Mavericks will take on CCU in Lakewood, Colo. at the Trailblazer Stadium. Two days later on September 22 they will face Colorado School of Mines at noon in Golden, Colo. The game will be held at Stermole Soccer Stadium.
