GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – The Mavericks will hit the road for the first time this weekend as they travel to Nampa, Idaho for a match against Northwest Nazarene on Saturday September 14 at 11 am MT. The game will be livestreamed free to the public.
The Mavs will look to improve their 1-1 record against NNU as this is a team they beat a season ago on Walker Field, 2-1.
This week the Mavericks dropped out of the national ranking after being ranked No. 17 in the Preseason United Coaches Poll, which was released back in August.
Last week in the Mavericks first win of the season four different players recorded goals and three of the goals were assisted.
The Mavericks are currently averaging 16 shots per game and limiting opponents to just eight shots per game. Junior college transfer Aaron Martinez currently leads the Mavericks with three points on the two game season in just 50 minutes. Sophomore Ethan Anderson leads the team with four shots and has recorded one goal this year.
Maverick goalkeeper Brendan Brown has played all 180 minutes in the net and recorded five saves and allowed just three goals.
About the Nighthawks
The Mavericks are 2-0 all-time against NNU having defeated them in 2013 and 2018. The Nighthawks are currently 1-1 on the season. They lost 4-0 to Cal State LA in their season opener and then defeated Biola University 3-2 for their first win.
Northwest Nazarene has recorded three goals so far this season and allowed six goals from their opponents. Opponents are outshooting the Nighthawks 29-18. Three different players have goals and no one has more than two points as the Nighthawks have recorded one assist this season from Brandon Parsio who has not recorded a goal yet.
Northwest Nazarene's goalkeeper Alex Nadermann has played all 180 minutes for the Nighthawks, recorded ten saves, and allowed six goals.

Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play will begin for the Mavericks next weekend against Fort Lewis College and CSU-Pueblo. The Mavericks will take on the Skyhawks Sept 20 at 7 pm and the Thunderwolves on Sept 22 at 1:30 pm. Both games will be played at Walker Field.
