Mavs Fall in Semifinal Game to Lindenwood

ST. CHARLES, Mo. –The third seeded Mavericks had their RMAC Tournament run ended by second-seeded Lindenwood Friday night in a semifinal game, 20-9. Five different Mavericks scored in Friday night's game and Ashton Whittle recorded her second hat-trick of the season.

Kiley Barber and Olivia Hayden finished with two points while Kenzie Blackwell and Marissa Leonardi recorded a goal each. Hayden completed the game with four ground balls, four caused turnovers, and ten draws controls.

Erin Koehler led the team with five ground balls and caused a total of three turnovers.

Lindenwood recorded ten free position goals compared to the Mavericks four and outshot the Mavs 40-19.

Barber scored the opening goal of the game but was answered by a 7-0 run in favor of the Lions that lasted until the 17:09 tick in the first half when Hayden and Whittle recorded back-to-back goals which cut the Maverick deficit to four. This was the closest the Mavericks got to taking an edge on the Lions as they went on to outscore the Mavs 8-2 in the remainder of the first half.

Entering the locker room, the Mavericks were down 15-5. The Lions took their run from the first half and added to it in the second half making it a seven-goal run to gain a lead 20-5 with 12:32 remaining. In the final twelves minutes the Mavericks allowed no goals and recorded four including a man down goal by Barber which was the final goal of the game.

Selection Sunday

The Mavericks will await a bid to the NCAA Tournament which will be announced Sunday night at 8:30 pm ET on the NCAA.com.
