Mavericks Complete Series Sweep of Adams State

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – The No. 2 Colorado Mesa baseball team completed the four-game sweep of the Adams State Grizzlies on Sunday with an 8-3 win over the Grizzlies at Suplizio Field. The Mavericks moved back into first place in the conference with the sweep coupled with the series split between Dixie State and MSU Denver.
 
Tanner Garner continued his torrid weekend with a 3-for-4 performance in the series finale. Garner added two runs driven in, a run scored and a stolen base. The finished the weekend with an .818 batting average (9-for-11) with two doubles, a triple and seven runs driven in.
 
The Mavericks got a home run from Spencer Bramwell in the bottom of the third inning. His fourth home run of the season left the yard in left center field and gave the Mavericks a 6-2 advantage. Bramwell went 2-for-3 in the game with two runs scored and an RBI.
 
Josh Shapiro was the only other Maverick with multiple hits.
 
Trevin Reynolds earned the win on the mound for the Mavericks. Reynolds (1-1) allowed three runs on six hits, walked one and struck out three in five innings of work.
 
John Beaudrie, Ryan Overboe and Will Dixon combined for four shutout innings of relief. The trio allowed just two hits while striking out two.
 
Colorado Mesa is now 31-7 on the season and 19-5 in the conference.
 
The Mavericks will be at home next weekend as well when they take on New Mexico Highlands. The series will begin on Thursday at 6:05pm due to the Easter Weekend.
