FRESNO, Calif. – The No. 12 Colorado Mesa baseball team dropped the final game of the four-game series with the Fresno Pacific Sunbirds 4-3 in 11 innings at FPU Diamond, snapping the Mavericks seven-game winning streak.
Fresno Pacific took a 3-0 lead after five innings but Colorado Mesa got one back in the top of the sixth inning on a two-run single by
Spencer Bramwell to make it 3-2.
The Mavericks tied the score up in the top of the seventh inning on a sac fly by
Josh Shapiro that scored
Chase Hamilton from third base to make it 3-3.
That's how the two teams would stay until the bottom of the 11
th inning where Fresno Pacific scratched across one run for the 4-3 advantage.
Hamilton and
Dominic DeMarco each had multi-hit games for the Mavericks.
Colorado Mesa's record sits at 10-2 on the season heading into next weekend's non-conference tilt with Dixie State. The Mavericks and Trailblazers will play a mini two-game series on Saturday and Sunday in St. George at Bruce Hurst Field.
