Baseball Falls in Series Finale to Fresno Pacific

FRESNO, Calif. – The No. 12 Colorado Mesa baseball team dropped the final game of the four-game series with the Fresno Pacific Sunbirds 4-3 in 11 innings at FPU Diamond, snapping the Mavericks seven-game winning streak.

Fresno Pacific took a 3-0 lead after five innings but Colorado Mesa got one back in the top of the sixth inning on a two-run single by Spencer Bramwell to make it 3-2.

The Mavericks tied the score up in the top of the seventh inning on a sac fly by Josh Shapiro that scored Chase Hamilton from third base to make it 3-3.

That's how the two teams would stay until the bottom of the 11th inning where Fresno Pacific scratched across one run for the 4-3 advantage.

Hamilton and Dominic DeMarco each had multi-hit games for the Mavericks.

Colorado Mesa's record sits at 10-2 on the season heading into next weekend's non-conference tilt with Dixie State. The Mavericks and Trailblazers will play a mini two-game series on Saturday and Sunday in St. George at Bruce Hurst Field.
