Mavericks Tie Westminster on Senior Day

Mavericks season ends with 8-7-2 overall record

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – The Colorado Mesa women's soccer season (8-7-2, 5-6-2 RMAC) came to a close Sunday afternoon after tying 0-0 with Westminster College (9-3-4, 6-3-3 RMAC) in a double overtime match.

The Mavericks took ten shots and put four on frame against the Griffins, but could not get past Hillary Weixler who recorded four saves.

Kamrie Gunderson started as goalkeeper for the Mavs and recorded three saves before suffering an injury. Emily Signorio subbed in as goalkeeper and recorded one save in her 38 minutes of action which included both overtime periods.

Emely Obregon led the Mavs with three shots, which was a career high for the freshman from Fontana, Calif.

The Griffins recorded 18 shots and were led by Aimee Kurfurst who took five shots.

The Mavericks were one spot shy of qualifying for the 2019 RMAC Tournament. They finished the season with 17 conference points and tied with CSU-Pueblo. Since CSU-Pueblo defeated the Mavericks earlier this season, they earned the final spot in the bracket as the number eight seed.

The Mavericks will graduate Ryanne Parker, Madison Rasimas, Alexis Allard, Zoe Peterson, and Jocelyn Ceccarelli, who were all honored during senior day prior to kickoff.
