GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – The Colorado Mesa Maverick men's soccer team fell to conference leading Colorado School of Mines 1-0 Sunday afternoon on Walker Field. The Mavericks record fell to 9-4-2 overall and 7-3-2 in conference play while the Orediggers improved to 11-3-2 and 9-1-2 in RMAC games to remain on top.
The Mavericks held off the Orediggers from scoring till the 68th minute when Jason Zobott slipped on past Brendan Brown who recorded three saves prior to the goal. The Mavs attempted two shots following this goal but neither were put on frame.
CSM took four shots on goal throughout the match and limited the Mavericks to just two shots on goal which ties a season low.
Lawan Abary led the Mavs with two shots and tied Aaron Martinez with one shot on goal. They were the only two Mavericks to put a shot on frame in today's match.
The Mavericks will travel to Durango, Colo. on Friday to face Fort Lewis on Dirks Field at 3 pm. On Sunday Nov 3 the Mavs will take on Adams State at 1:30 pm following the Colorado Mesa women's soccer match which will begin at 11 am. Both the Maverick mens and women's soccer team will honors this year's seniors on Nov 3.
The 2019 RMAC Men's Soccer Tournament will begin November 7.
