Mavericks open RMAC play with two home games

Colorado Mines Sept. 15:
First time 4-0 since 2010:
Following wins against #7 St. Edwards and St. Mary's over the weekend, the men's soccer team is 4-0 to begin the season for the first time since 2010. The Mavericks finished that season going 10-7-2 and qualified for the RMAC tournament.
Last season results:
Last season these two teams met once, and the Mavericks came away with the 2-0 victory. Moshe Perez and Roberto Diaz were the goal scorers for CMU, while Briley Guarneri finished the game with 3 saves. The win gave the Mavericks their 7th of the season. Nikolaus Grotz didn't play in the game for CSM.
Mines with the goal scorer:
Forward John Haist for the Orediggers already has 5 goals scored on the season through 4 games. He has scored those 5 on 10 shots on goal. Two of those goals were also game winners for CSM. Haist also has an assist to his name for a team high 11 points on the year.
Grotz breaks assist record:
In a game against Concordia-Portland on Sunday, CSM forward Grotz surpassed Tesho Akindele for the Orediggers career record in assists. With his assist on Sunday it gave Grotz 34 for his career.
Players to watch:
Midfielder Moshe Perez and forward John Haist are your players to watch in this one. Perez and Haist are one and two in total shots taken in the RMAC with 25 and 18 respectively. Haist is the leader in points in the RMAC with 11, while Perez is tied for second with 6.
 
Regis University Sept. 17:
RMAC play begins:
Non-conference play finished for the Mavericks last weekend, and RMAC play begins this week. Last season the Mavericks dominated the RMAC, finishing the year 12-0-2 against conference opponents. The two ties came against Metro State in the first RMAC game of the season and against South Dakota School of Mines in the last regular season RMAC game.
Top teams in the conference:
This matchup features the number one and two teams in the conference entering the week. Both teams come into the week undefeated, with the Mavericks at 4-0 and Rangers at 2-0.
Last season results:
Last season's matchup was a top 25 matchup between these two teams, with the Mavericks going on the road and defeating the Rangers 3-2 in double overtime. The game winning goal came from Roy Abergil on a penalty kick in the 107th minute. Perez and Trentin Atkin also scored for CMU in the game.
Battle of the keepers:
Both keepers enter the game undefeated with a combined 5 shutouts. Ciaran Gibson for the Rangers has come away with 3 saves in the Rangers two games while Guarneri has 9 through four games.
Players to watch:
Midfielder Kevin Del Mazo and defender Will Eslinger are your players to watch in this game. Both come into the game tied with 6 points apiece, with Del Mazo scoring 2 goals and having 2 assists on the year. Meanwhile, Eslinger has 3 goals for the Ranger through 2 games.
