SAN ANGELO, TEXAS – The No. 11 Colorado Mesa University softball team's season came to an end with a 4-0 loss to Angelo State in the championship game of the NCAA South Central Regional Saturday (May 13).
The Mavericks finish the season with a 48-8 overall record.
The Rambelles scored their first run in the third with a pair of singles and a Maverick error.
Courtney Barnhill led off the fourth inning with a solo homerun to left field to extend the ASU lead to 2-0.
Angelo capitalized on two errors by Mesa in the fifth to score two runs on one hit.
Kaila Jacobi and
Baylee Boren collected the only two hits for the Mavericks.
McKenzie Surface (27-6) gave up four runs, only one earned, on six hits in 4.1 innings of work.
Andy Hancock did not give up a hit in 1.2 innings of relief work.
