GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – Sophomore
Kyle Leahy pitched seven complete innings and guided Colorado Mesa to a 10-1 win over Cal Baptist in the series finale at Suplizio Field.
With the win the Mavericks earn the series split with the No. 14 Lancers.
Leahy picked the right time to have the best outing of his career. He allowed one run on five hits, walked one and struck out three and earned his second win of the season. He retired 11 of the last 12 batters he faced.
Leahy got plenty of support from the Maverick hitters as they finished with 11 hits including three extra base-hits.
Junior shortstop
Zach McLeod had a breakout game at the plate, going 3-for-3 with a double, four RBIs and three runs scored. He got the Maverick offense going with a two-run double down the left field line in the second inning.
Catcher
Tyler Sandoval earned his second straight start behind the plate and didn't disappoint. He went 2-for-5 with a double, two RBIs and two runs scored.
Colorado Mesa improves to 7-5 on the season heading into Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference action. The Lancers fall to 9-5 on the season
The Mavericks will be at home to open RMAC play on Friday when they take on Colorado Christian at Suplizio Field.
