Lindsi Peters,
Jessica Cook and
Amanda Geary all recorded hatricks for the Colorado Mesa University women's lacrosse team in an 18-8 win over Westminster to open the season Saturday (Feb. 18).
Lindsi Peters paced the Mavericks with six goals, with
Jessica Cook and
Amanda Geary each scoring three.
CMU and WC traded goals early before the Mavericks scored the final three goals of the first half to lead 8-3.
Amanda Geary scored the first two goals of the second half for CMU to push the Mesa lead to 10-3.
The two teams traded goals with each scoring five with CMU leading 15-8.
Jenny Lange,
Jessica Cook and
Lindsi Peters each scored to conclude the scoring for CMU.
CMU finished with a 39-24 lead in shots, and led 30-16 in ground balls.
Mesa forced 29 turnovers while turning the ball over 19 times.
Jillian Pfeifer made 13 saves in the win for CMU.
CMU (1-0) will host Regis Feb. 25
th.
