GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – The Colorado Mesa women's basketball team held their fifth straight opponent under 50 points in a 92-48 win over Northern New Mexico College on Saturday evening to close out the Holiday Inn Thanksgiving Classic.
The 92 points by the Mavericks is a season-high eclipsing the 71 points they scored in the season opener against Midwestern State back on November 10.
Colorado Mesa raced out to a 25-9 lead in the first quarter and never looked back as Northern New Mexico never led. They built a 45-23 lead at halftime and extended their lead to 63-38 lead at the end of periods of play.
The Mavericks have looked for bench scoring through the first six games of the season. Tonight, they got 44 of their 92 points from the bench led by freshman
Sierra McNicol's nine points. McNicol also pulled down six rebounds in 16 minutes of action.
Everyone that played in the game for Colorado Mesa recorded at least two points.
Junior
Jaylyn Duran finished with a game-high 18 points and didn't record any minutes in the fourth quarter. She shot 50 percent (7-for-14) from the floor and was 4-for-9 from beyond the three-point line.
Erin Reichle finished with nine points, two rebounds, and six assists.

Karina Brandon scored four points but pulled down seven rebounds, six on the defensive end, and dished out five assists.
Colorado Mesa shot 51.5 percent (35-for-68) from the field and hit on 43.5 percent (10-for-23) of their three-point opportunities. They outrebounded Northern New Mexico 50-32 and forced 19 turnovers
The Eagles' Ashley John recorded a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds.
The Mavericks will be right back on the floor on Tuesday (Nov. 28) when they open up Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference action against Western State at 5:30pm.
