Men's soccer looks to stay hot

October 6 vs. CSU-Pueblo:
High percentage looks:

Through Colorado Mesa University's first nine games of action, the team has had the ability to get good looks on goal. CMU has a 0.506 shots on goal percentage for their season. Eighty of the team's 158 shots have put pressure on the opposing goalkeeper.
Rough beginnings:
The Thunderwolves got off to a rough start, losing seven in a row. During those games, CSU-Pueblo was outscored 23-3. But over the team's last three games they are 2-0-1 and have scored five goals in those games.
Tied season high last season:
When these two teams faced off last season down in Pueblo, the Mavericks tied their season high in goals with four. CMU won the game 4-0 with two goals from Roy Abergil, one from Moshe Perez and one from Luis Schraidt.
All Time Record:
The Mavericks have a commanding 8-4-3 record all time against the Thunderwolves, including five straight shutout victories. Over the last five matchups the Mavericks have scored 14 goals to the Thunderwolves zero.
Players to Watch:
Look for Perez and Kevin Del Mazo to put pressure on the Thunderwolves early. They will look to put pressure on a team that will have problems coming back from a deficit by scoring early.

October 8 vs. UCCS:
Prime time is the afternoon:

So far, this season, the Mavericks have yet to lose an afternoon game. The team is 6-0-1 in games that start between 12 p.m. and 3 p.m.
Scoreless streak for the Mountain Lions:
Coming into the week, UCCS has been held goalless over their last three games. The team has gone 0-2-1 over that stretch with their tie coming against CSU-Pueblo.
2-0 a season ago:
Last year the Mavericks defeated the Mountain Lions in both the team's matchups. CMU won the first game on the road 3-0 and outshot UCCS 16-9 in the game. In the second matchup UCCS was able to score first and take the 1-0 halftime lead. However, in the second half the Mavericks scored two goals in eight minutes to take the lead.
All-Time Record:
CMU owns the all-time record against the Mountain Lions 12-5-4. In the team's last four meetings the Mavericks are 4-0 with a goal differential of 11-1.
Players to Watch:
Jake McAllister and Blake Barnes have combined for 52 shots, 15 points, six goals and three assists for the Mountain Lions. Look for them to try to go toe to toe with Perez and Del Mazo at the forward and midfielder spots.
