No. 21 Mavericks Head to the Lone Star State

LAST WEEKEND
The Colorado Mesa Mavericks started the season off with a (0-0) draw against Eastern New Mexico. Following the draw the Mavericks got their first win of the season (5-1) against the Fort Lewis Skyhawks in the Double Tree Mesa Classic Sunday (Sept. 4) at Walker Field. The Mavericks had two players score two goals, Roy Abergil and Trentin Atkin, both had several opportunities for a hat trick.

NATIONAL RANKINGS
This weeks NSCAA Rankings came out (Sept. 6) and Colorado Mesa Mavericks are ranked # 21 out of 25.

THIS WEEK'S OPPONENTS
Colorado Mesa will travel to Texas to play St. Mary's University and #7 St. Edward's University, on September 9th and 10th. You can follow the Mavs at CMUmavericks.com. Last years first home game was against St. Mary's, the final score was 2-0. We faced St. Edwards for the first game of theseason last year, the final score 0-0.

LAST YEAR
The Mavericks played St. Edward's for their first game of the season and came up with a (0-0) draw. Then faced St. Mary's a few days later to get their first win of the season (2-0). Both teams should be a good match-up to watch.

RETURNING
Returning we have four No. 1 rankings  in different catagories throuhtout the RMAC conference. Guarneri with the goals against (0.761) and save percentage (0.848). Abergil with the most goals per game (0.76) and total goals (14).

COACHING
Todd Padgett is in his third season coaching the Mavericks. He had an extremly successful first and second season, finishing 18-4-1 in the first season and 14-5-2 the second season. Padgett lead the Mavericks all the way to the NCAA National tournament the last two season. The Mavericks will have two assistants Stan Schrock, and Jeremay Gwerder.

LOOKING AHEAD
Colorado Mesa Mavericks will head to the other side of the mountains to play in Dever. There they will face MSU Denver and UCCS Sept. 16 and 18. Last year the Mavericks Won against UCCS (3-0) but fell against MSU Denver (2-0). You can follow the Mavs at CMUmavericks.com.
