GRAND JUNCTION, COLO. –
Halie Bergeron gained her first goal of the season to lead the Mavericks to a 1-0 victory over the Western State Mountaineers Sunday (Sept. 25) in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play.
Bergeron was fouled in the 18-yard box and was awarded a penalty kick. She took advantage of the foul, converting the penalty kick for her first goal of the season, giving the Mavericks the 1-0 advantage.
Colorado Mesa outshot Western State 12-3 including 4-1 shots on goal.

Janelle Richmond-Buccola concluded her second shutout of the season, while WSCU goalkeeper Katie Simpson-Johns had four saves.
The Mavericks led in corner kicks 8-0, including 6 in the second half.
Colorado Mesa will play at MSU Denver Friday (Sept. 30) and Regis Sunday (Oct. 2).
