Mavericks Prep for Griffins, Hardrockers

LAST WEEKEND
The Colorado Mesa University men's soccer team came out with a draw against MSU-Denver (0-0) in the first RMAC game of the season. Roy Abergil scored twice to lead the Colorado Mesa to a 3-0 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference win at the University of Colorado-Colorado Springs Sunday (Sept. 18). The last time the Mavericks scored three goals was last year against UCCS with the final score 3-0 as well.

THIS WEEK'S OPPENENTS
The Mavericks will play the Griffins, who enter the contest with an over record of 1-4-0 and RMAC record is 0-2-0 for the 2016 season. Last season the Mavericks defeated the Griffins, 3-1 and 4-0. The Griffins are averaging 1.33 goals per game to rank fifth in the RMAC, and taking 8.7 shots per game. South Dakota School of Mines Hardrockers enter the weekend with a RMAC record of 0-2-0 and all time record is 0-5-0. The last four times Colorado Mesa has played them, the Mavericks have came out on top. In 2015, the Mavericks won 4-2 and 4-0. 

LAST YEAR
In the 2015 season the Mavericks won, 3-1 and 4-0 against the Griffins. The last four times Colorado Mesa played the Hardrockers, the Mavericks have came out on top 4-2 and 4-0.

RETURNING
Returning we have four No. 1 rankings  in different catagories throuhtout the RMAC conference. Guarneri with the goals against (0.761) and save percentage (0.848). Abergil with the most goals per game (0.76) and total goals (14).

CMU LEADS THE RMAC IN...
Roy Abergil leads the RMAC in shots per game with an average of 3.67, and has the most points with 12. Briley Guarneri is tied in shutouts (3), with Leo Chely from Colorado School of Mines.

MAVERICK WINS
The Mavericks are 2-0-0 when leading at half time, and 1-1-1 when the the Oppenent scores  first.

LOOKING AHEAD
The Mavericks will head to Durango, Colo. to play Fort Lewis Friday (Sept. 30) at 3 pm. Then the Mavericks will host Adams State Sunday (Oct. 2) at 1 pm.
