ST. GEORGE, Utah - The Colorado Mesa University women's soccer team notched its first win of the season with a 2-0 shutout win over Humboldt State Saturday (Sept. 10).
Both teams had a scoreless first half, but the Mavericks came back in the seond half ready to play.
Amanda Wenzel scored a goal in the 46th minute from 25-yards out to the top of the goal to put the Mavericks ahead 1-0. Maddie Chaffee earned an assist on the goal.Â
With a few minutes left Mavericks,
Alexis Allard headed one in during the 87th minute.Â
With the Mavericks up 2-0 the Jacks faught hard to come back, but were outshot 16-5 by the Mavericks.Â
Colorado Mesa will head to Gunnison, Colo. Wednesday (Sept. 14) for a match with Angelo State.
