LAKEWOOD, Colo. –
Lane LaCrone's single to center field in the top of the eighth inning broke a 7-7 tie and gave Colorado Mesa a 9-7 win over Colorado Christian, giving the Mavericks a four-game sweep of the Cougars.
After the Mavericks took a 5-0 lead, Colorado Christian battled back and knotted the game at 5-5 in the bottom of the second inning.
Both teams battled back-and-forth, leading to LaCrone's hit in the eighth.
Greg Reynolds had an RBI single in the ninth scored
James Young III and gave the Mavericks some cushion. Reynolds finished the game 2-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI.
Third baseman
Kyle Serrano finished the game 3-for-3 with three runs scored and two runs driven in. He hit his second home run of the series in the fifth inning.
Nick Borowski earned the win in relief, moving his record to 3-0. Borowski pitched the final four innings of the game and allowed two hits while striking out three.
Colorado Mesa is now 12-3 on the season and 4-0 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.
The Mavericks will return home for a four-game series with MSU Denver at Suplizio Field beginning on Friday at 4:00pm.
