SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – The 11
th ranked Mavericks won six of the ten bouts on their way to a 23-14 win over the San Francisco State Gators at The Swamp on Saturday afternoon.
The dual started at 197 pounds where Maverick
Marcus Haughian pinned Gator Calvin Nicholls in 1:28 to give Colorado Mesa a 6-0 lead.
San Francisco State won the next three bouts that included a major decision and a forfeit win to take a 12-6 lead.
Second-ranked
Daniel Salazar earned a pin at 141 pounds to tie the dual at 12-12. Salazar pinned Thomas Turcol at the 6:25 mark of the match.
After dropping the 149 pound bout, Colorado Mesa rattled off the final four bouts with all four coming by way of decision.
The Mavericks will be home for their final two duals of the season this coming week. They will host the second annual Battle in Brownson on Thursday when they host CSU-Pueblo at 7pm.
