GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – The Colorado Mesa women's basketball team ran their win streak to six in a 75-45 win over Adams State on Saturday evening in Brownson Arena in a Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference contest.
After playing to a 16-15 first quarter, the Mavericks outscored Adams State 20-6 in the second quarter to take a 36-21 lead into the half. They would go on to outscore the Grizzlies 39-24 in the second half.
Colorado Mesa made 30 total baskets and made assists on 26 of them.
CMU shot 49.2 percent (30-for-61) from the field and were 11-for-33 from beyond the arc while limiting Adams State to 32 percent (16-of-50) from the field.
Bryanna Adams tied for the game-high with 16 points and pulled down seven rebounds. She also handed out six assists and had one steal.
Ma'ata Epenisa also had 16 points on 7-of-9 shooting from the field.
Colorado Mesa got a career night out of freshman
Holly Brooks. The Montrose product gave the Mavericks 18 minutes and scored a career-high 13 points and was 2-for-3 from beyond the arc. She also had a career-high six assists.
The Mavericks improved to 7-1 overall and 4-0 in the RMAC while Adams State fell to 1-6, 0-4 in the conference.
Colorado Mesa will be on the road next weekend for a showdown with nationally ranked CSU-Pueblo on Friday before heading to New Mexico for a Saturday showdown with New Mexico Highlands.
