Mustangs Handle Mavericks 4-1

Box Score WICHITA FALLS, Texas – Fourth ranked Colorado Mesa conceded three second half goals in a 4-1 loss to 20th ranked Midwestern State on Sunday afternoon at MSU Soccer Field in a NCAA South Central region matchup.
 
Colorado Mesa surrendered a first half goal on a penalty kick in the 32nd minute.
 
Freshman Kevin Del Mazo evened the match in the 51st minute on a goal that came from the left side of the box. It was the Mavericks first goal of the season and first of his collegiate career.
 
The Mavericks surrendered three second half goals in the 57th, 83rd, and 87th minutes and were outshot 23-6 in the match.
 
Colorado Mesa played without All-American defender Blake Carlson who was serving a one-game suspension for receiving a red card in the match with St. Edward's.
 
The Mavericks will have their home opener next Friday against St. Mary's at Walker Field.
