Box Score RAPID CITY, S.D. – Colorado Mesa took 25 shots and found the back of the net on five of them in a 5-2 win over South Dakota Mines on Sunday afternoon in a Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference men's soccer match.
The Mavericks scored five goals in a game for the first time since September 26, 2010 when they defeated Adams State 5-1 at Walker Field.
Colorado Mesa took a 3-1 lead into halftime after goals by
Moshe Perez,
Roy Abergil and
Charlie Dukes. For Perez, he scored the third straight goal for the Mavericks and Abergil added his team leading fourth goal of the year.
The Mavericks tacked on a pair of goals in the second half by
Luis Schraidt and
Jacob Dominguez. The goals by Schraidt and Dominguez were their first of their Colorado Mesa career.
Nick Mabry earned the win in goal and faced just three Hardrocker shots all day.
Colorado Mesa will play at Adams State on Friday in Alamosa before a showdown with RMAC rival Fort Lewis on Sunday at Walker Field.
